As of this date we have yet to receive any snow. There have been a couple of cold days, but generally it's been warm and sunny. Below are a few photos of
plants that should not be blooming this time of year and some that are behaving correctly.

Today, two nests of praying mantises (manti?) hatched on plants inside the atrium. Is this hatching also way out of season? We're not sure. The
baby pictured below is about a quarter of an inch in length. Cute? No?

More insect people have appeared - this time in a pot of violets on the sill of the dining room window. One looks like a baby grasshopper (you can see his
size next to Andrea's finger). We're not quite sure what the spriped one is. Andrea thinks they're cute . . .

Finally, snow! And it's melting as I write this . . .

And now it's gone.
None of these abrupt changes affect the houseplants. They are as happy as can be. That's a hoya on the top left. The brilliant red bloom is a
christmas cactus. The rest, of course, are orchids. Beautiful, no?
